Shoemaker and the elves
The Shoemaker, his wife and their son Billy need your help in this exciting and family-friendly panto adventure of good versus evil. With lots of audience participation this new spin on a familiar tale sees our poor cobbler family with the help their best customer, Dame Kitty Litter try everything they can not to become homeless and thrown out of their shop and onto the streets by the wicked Baron and Baroness Pennywise and their accountants Scrimp, Squander, Scrape, Scrounge and Scarper. Along the way we meet the magical Elf King and his Elf Queen expertly aided by their Teenage Mutant Ninja Elf bodyguards as they try to stop the beautiful Princess Poinsettia from befriending the humans and blowing their magical cover. Can they outsmart the most evil elf of them all, Lord Darkness or will his sidekick henchmen Cupcake and Twinkle-Toes ruin his plans? Without your help we may not make it through the story to a happy ending.

A FAST FIZZING FOUNTAIN OF FUN
Did I like it? Oh, yes, I did! I refer to the latest in the now well-established line of Hunstanton Pantomimes: “The Shoemaker and the Elves” was dottily wonderful from beginning to end. I’ve seen a few pantomimes in my time, but none, I think, to equal this.
First the ingenuity of the script, then the glorious speed and energy with which it came to life. The Goodies, the Baddies, and, of course, the outrageous Kitty Litter captured – nay grabbed – the attention of the happy audience.
There were songs, there was colour and movement, there was the magic slide-out bed, the brilliant lighting, the gorgeous costumes, the organised gormlessness, the gloriously daft “decorators” routine, the dances, the mad-cap water pistol chase, the glowing elfin hammers: the whole splendiferous concoction of comedy delivered by a well-organised company from the smart front of house to the slick stage-management and special effects, and of course Giller’s Gang of rip-roaring performers.
Well done everyone, and my thanks to the whole team for a riotous night at the Panto. Am I a fan? You bet!

Four of us; Grandma, Granddad, Auntie and Uncle, travelled from Ashton Under Lyne (near Manchester) to watch the 2pm show on the 29th of December, our family members/budding actors in the pantomime were Martha, Esther & William broad who were elves.....we all thoroughly enjoyed the show - I must admit that Kitty Litter was outstanding, and even brought a little bit of adult humour to the show!!! All the other cast members were really good too, it was especially nice to hear an Oldham accent included - we spoke to the baddie after the show and he was a delight!! This was the first panto I have ever seen - yes how disgraceful (at a mere 56 years young) and I found myself shouting out with the kids !!! All the cast were really professional, and I particularly liked the Baronesses humour. The elves were fantastic obviously!! Very well put together, great entertainment for everyone. We all thoroughly enjoyed it all. Well worth the seven hour round trip drive down - thank you!! Book us in for next year!! |

Its a long while since I've done panto. This show was absolutely brilliant. Had the thrill of getting front row seats and a soaking. All at no extra charge!!!!. William phoenix did try hiding from Dame Kitty but she still got him. Ha ha!!!. Loved how the audience were encouraged to join in, and know for a fact Charles was falling in love with Dame Kitty. The elves were all so cute and threw themselves into the performance. Billy played a fantastic role and was pleased he got his princess. The baddie......frightened poor Granny Goo......played a fantastic part. My William got up on stage to do head shoulders knees and toes, had a chat with Dame Kitty and had an attack of stage fright at the thought of singing. But Billy took him under his wing and he got through it. Proud Granny. So Kitty, Kitty, Kitty, oi oi oi we'll definitely be back to see you next year and William will see you very soon. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!! And thank you!!!!!!! |

I would like to say a huge thank you for allowing Karen to be part of such a fantastic show. She has had a brilliant time and enjoyed every moment she's made some new friends along the way too. It was a year ago we sat in the audience and Karen showed an interest then in taking part. When we found out about the auditions she couldn't wait to give it a go, John made her very welcome as she didn't know anyone and she soon fitted right in. |
