We ask Alan some questions.
How Have You Been Involved?
Backstage Crew, Production Design, Set building, Stage Manager.
What Roles Have You Played?
The Frog Prince was my first pantomime with The Hunstanton
Pantomime and I was involved in designing, building and painting scenic
elements as well as working backstage during showtime, many and varied
duties. Last year I was elevated to the dizzying heights of
production designer and stage manager also head of finger wagging, and
general bossiness during showtime.
What Has Been Your Best Moment?
Best moments are many, from rehearsals, which really can be a laugh a
minute, to the final curtain. I just love having such a good time with a
bunch of brilliant people who really pull it out of the bag at show
time.
Your Last Comment?
I know that everyone involved does this for the love of live
theatre and the pleasure of seeing people blossom and grow on stage,
this wouldn't happen without a huge and dedicated family in supporting
roles in the background, I am honoured to now be part of that family,
long may it continue. Thank you and goodnight!

Why Did You Join The Hunstanton Panto?
I joined because I had recently moved to Hunstanton and thought it
would be a good way of meeting new people other than in the pub, that
place that's full of Drama, Old Dames, Comedians and Baddies. I had seen
posters inviting people to go along to auditions and I knew they were
looking for backstage people but with my sieve brain just didn't really
get round to doing anything about it. One evening at the pub
quiz I bumped into "Her Royal Highness" our Mayor at the time, Carol
Bower, she told me she was involved in the panto and they were always on
the lookout for new recruits, having had previous experience in theatre
in another life, I volunteered to do anything that didn't involve
acting, so there I was, suddenly on the team. It was really great fun,
they were the most professional amateur group I had ever worked with and
I have worked with a few!! John Giller, writer, director and
Dame is a true pro and an absolute pleasure to work with, he brings out
the star in everyone, stars without egos, how could I refuse when they
asked me to come back the following year, Here I am with a bunch of
Comedians, Baddies and an Old Dame doing it all again and now on my
third production.
In Which Shows Have You Been Involved?
I have been involved in The Frog Prince 2013, and Hansel and Gretel's Big Adventure 2014.
